The capital is set to host the second edition of the Dhaka International Mobile Phone Fair, beginning on December 10. This five-day event is jointly organized by the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) and the Bangladesh Mobile Phone Business Association (BMPBA). The announcement was made at a press conference held in Dhaka yesterday, attended by several prominent figures in the telecommunications and business sectors.
Former chairman of the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC), Syed Marghub Morshed, spoke at the conference to outline the schedule and key highlights of the fair. Joining him were FBCCI President Mir Nasir Hossain and BMPBA President M Nizam Uddin Jitu. The fair will take place at the China-Bangladesh Friendship Centre and will be inaugurated by President Iazuddin Ahmed.
This year’s fair, themed “Always growing, always improving,” aims to showcase the latest advancements in mobile technology and telecommunications. Over 100 stalls will feature a diverse range of products and services from mobile phone operators, handset manufacturers, importers, and public switching telephone network (PSTN) service providers. The event is designed to cater to industry professionals and the general public, offering insights into the current trends and future directions of the mobile phone industry.
An entry fee of Tk 20 per person has been set, making the fair accessible to a broad audience. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with leading industry experts, explore cutting-edge mobile devices, and discover innovative telecommunications solutions.
The organizers anticipate that the ‘2nd Dhaka International Mobile Phone Fair 2007’ will build on the success of its predecessor, fostering greater awareness and enthusiasm for mobile technology in Bangladesh. The fair not only serves as a marketplace for products but also as a forum for networking and knowledge exchange among industry stakeholders.
With the participation of key players in the mobile phone and telecommunications sectors, the event is expected to draw significant attention and contribute to the ongoing growth and improvement of Bangladesh’s telecommunication infrastructure.
